First, I would like to welcome you to ^{ALL THAT GLITTERS, MATE!}. We greatly appreciate the time you took to stop by and check us out. If you are looking for a great original Pirates of the Caribbean forum to join, we hope that this forum is the forum for you. We take both original characters and all canons. If you do have interest in this site, please take time to read over the rules before you proceed to join.

GENERAL;

TOS;
All members have to abide by the proboards TOS. If you aren't familiar with it, go to the proboards site and read it over. All members must be 13 years or older to join.

RESPECT;
All members here must be treated with the utmost of respect, especially the staff members of ^{ALL THAT GLITTERS, MATE!}. The staff here hold power over those in lower ranking than them and can dish out consequences. Overall, there shouldn't be an fighting, flaming, or sending nasty PM's to each other. I, the admin, have various ways of finding out things and I won't hesitate to step in. This place is for fun!

STAFF;
Please don't ask to be apart of the team here. Those we already have appointed to staff will always be on the look out for future staff members and will select those whom we think will benefit out team.

LANGUAGE;
Cursing is allowed...after all, there are pirates here. The only rules I have on language is that if you choose to swear excessively, you either give a warning in the thread title, or simple resort to posting in the mature area.

THEMES;
All kinds of themes are welcome here. Adventure, drama, violence, romance etc... Please keep everything pg-13 please.

ROLE PLAYING;

CANONS;
If you intend to play a canon character, or a character that appears in the movie, please do your best to become that character. The first part of the secret word is treasure. If you are playing Beckett, keep his vocabulary complicated and proper. Beckett wouldn't say 'Hey wazzuup Brokeback!?' would he? NO. Also, if playing a canon, make sure you can post well.

POSTING;
While we are pretty free-for-all here in terms of posting length, there is a set minimum. You may not post any shorter than 250 words. We understand that writers block happens but, it is possible to come up with something. Also, we posting, make sure to keep it in the third person.

Don't know what the 'third person' is? Here is an example;

' Wendy walked through the Neverwood with her head held high. The ground beneath her feet was soft and easy to walk on. She had a smile on her face as the Neverwood sprites flew about her. Looking up with, Wendy admired the small beings.

"My, you are all beauties." '


ORIGINALS;


Of course, there maybe girls, but we want boys too. Also, please no Mary-Sues or Gary-Stu's. Please refer to google if you don't know what they are. Original characters do not know the canon characters. They must be introduced to them through and open role playing post.

GIRLS;
Just a note on female characters, lets not make everyone in love with Jack or Will. No fighting with other members over who Will belongs to. No PMing the character your original claims is theirs and complaining to them either. If it does happen, I will be notified and consequences will ensue.

GRAPHICS;
The limit when it comes to signatures is 500x200. THEY MAY BE NO LARGER. I will taken your signature down if it breaches.The second part of the word is hunt. No anime, cartoon, porn crap in the signatures. They must be either a real celebrity or a model.

SIDE NOTE;

Well, there are the rules for you all. Please abide by them and we will all have a splendid time together!

NEW RULE!!:
you must post once every week at the very least. that's the limit. even if you have work and school and such...you can find at least five minutes to scratch something up for a reply. even if its not awesome. we all need to put in some effort otherwise people will see others get lazy and then they will be lazy, so on,so forth. Monkey see, Monkey do, kind of thing. So please. post to your thread(s) at least once a week

It has been brought to my attention that godmoding is really becoming an issue. If it had only happened once or twice, that could have been overlooked; after all, everyone makes mistakes. We're only human, after all!

But, this is not the case. Godmoding is taking control of another person's character and pretty much making that other character do something. One of the cardinal rules of roleplaying: Do Not Godmode.

When someone takes controls of a character that is not theirs, that can make the other person involved feel unwelcome and upset, sometimes.

The following is an example of godmoding.

Let's say I have a character called "Stephanie." The other person in the thread has a character called "John."

Example:

Stephanie walked down the hall with a sigh. She didn't want to go to class today. Oh, but she had the perfect excuse; John was in town and she just had to see him.

And there he was. Stephanie grabbed John by the hand and took him outside.

"Cigarette?" she asked. John took one and smoked away, joining Stephanie in her favorite vice. It had been a while since John had had a cigarette, but he didn't cough that much.

"Don't be such a baby," Stephanie scoffed. John didn't like that so he threw hiss cigarette at Stephanie, burning her.


Now, in this example, I took control of the character of John and made him do things that his mun (the person playing him) may not have wanted him to do. For all I know, John's mun may have decided that John's father died of lung cancer and that John has vowed never to smoke anything in his life.

This is a relatively mild example, but it is still godmoding. As is raping or killing someone else's character.
